Springfield, Ohio. ? It wasn?t nearly as dramatic as its match the previous night but the result was the same as the Juniata College women?s volleyball team topped Otterbein 3-0 in Springfield Ohio Saturday afternoon. Juniata is now 2-0 on the year, while Otterbein fell to 0-2.

Juniata, which opened the season ranked second in the CSTV/American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III top-25 poll, got a balanced offensive effort in claiming the win by game scores of 30-20, 30-21 and 30-21. Stephanie Kines (Towson/Towson, Md.) pounded out a team-best 15 kills while also leading the team with five blocks. Aly Pompeani (Hopewell/Aliquippa) was also in double figures in kills as finished with 11 kills. Freshmen Cassie Dickmann (Unionville/Kennett Square) and Erin Albert (Philipsburg-Osceola/Philipsburg) each added five finishes.

Juniata?s service game was also strong as Jess Ritchey (Greencastle-Antrim/Greencastle) tossed in four serve aces. Tara McMinn (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) added a pair of aces.

Juniata?s defense was led by McMinn who brought up 11 digs. Abby Leonard (Shade/Johnstown) and Kelly Popernik (Bartlett/Bartlett, Ill.) each recorded eight digs for Juniata?s defense. At the net defensively Albert added matched Kines? five blocks to go along with her five kills, while Mariel Little (Walled Lake Central/Commerce, Mi.) posted three blocks.

Juniata will return to action next Friday as the Eagles compete on the first day of the Ashland Invitational in Ashland, Ohio.
