Baldwin-Wallace 3, Juniata 0

Erie, Pa. ? A tough Baldwin-Wallace defense overcame a solid effort in goal by Juniata keeper Tim Penrod (Moravia/Moravia, N.Y.) and handed the Juniata College men?s soccer team a 3-0 loss in the consolation match of the Penn State-Behrend Tournament in Erie on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles fall to 0-2 with the loss, while Baldwin-Wallace upped its record to 2-1.

The two teams played nearly even for the first half before Baldwin-Wallace scored two goals in the final 10 minutes of the first half. Josh Dundr opened the scoring off an assist from Alex Restaino and then with just thirty seconds remaining in the half Geoff Andrews made the score 2-0 with a goal assisted by James Igneczi.

Penrod made four saves in the first half to keep the Eagles in the match while Juniata forced Baldwin-Wallace keeper Nate Christian into four saves, but could not pull any closer.

Juniata?s offense was unable to mount too much of a comeback in the second stanza, and saw Baldwin-Wallace put the match away with a goal in the 67th minute. Michael Grater beat Penrod off an assist from Loui Rolko to reach the final score of 3-0.

Penrod finished with 10 saves, which marked a new career high.

The Eagles will be in tournament action again next Saturday when they compete in the opening day of play at the Penn State-Altoona Tournament.
