Elizabethtown, Pa.? The Juniata College women?s tennis team got a tough early-season test as the Eagles traveled to take on defending conference champion Elizabethtown. The young Eagles were unable to pull off the upsets as they fell to the Blue Jays by a 9-0 score. Juniata is now 2-2 on the year and 0-2 in conference matches, while the host team improved to 4-0 and 1-0 in the conference.

Each of the singles matches were decided in straight sets. Caroline Weisser (York Suburban/York) won two games in both sets at the second singles position, but fell 6-2, 6-2. Megan Carpenter (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) claimed three games in the second set of her sixth-singles match before falling 6-1, 6-3.

Juniata will return to action on Wednesday when the Eagles host Frostburg State for a non-conference match. Juniata is 2-0 in non-conference outings thus far in 2005.
