Juniata scored first on Saturday afternoon, but host Susquehanna came back with 35 unanswered points on the way to a 35-7 victory at Selinsgrove. The Crusaders (2-3 overall) used a powerful running attack to earn their first Middle Atlantic Conference win in four league starts. Juniata fell to 0-6 on the season and 0-5 in the MAC, after trailing just 14-7 at intermission.

Running back Duane Ehredt rang the bell on a 31-yard scoring play just 2:53 into the contest for the Eagle?s lone touchdown. Dan Heinlein booted the extra point for a 7-0 early JC lead.

Ehredt finished the day with 37 carries for 152 yards. Juniata had 158 rushing yards to go along with 82 through the air. Quarterback Jay Leonard was 6-of-15 with two interceptions. Lance Tippett (2-30 yards) and John Boyer (2-15) each grabbed a pair of receptions for Juniata.

The Crusaders took control with touchdown runs of 1, 3 andd 49 yards by Anthony Edwards. Jim Owen rushed for a 22-yard score in the fourth period before quarterback Justin Wutti tossed a 6-yard TD pass to Nick Macia with 8:06 remaining in the game.

Susquehanna survived three lost fumbles while rushing for 361 yards. The Crusaders had a 23-9 edge in first downs while out-gaining Juniata, 518-240 in total offense. Susquehanna returns to league play on Oct. 15 at Widener, which upset previously unbeaten Albright this week.

Juniata will be back on College Hill Oct. 15 for a 1:30 p.m. Homecoming kickoff against King?s (PA).
