Huntingdon, Pa. ? On senior day in Memorial Gym senior Katie Laucks (West York/York) led Juniata with 15 kills as the Eagles earned a 3-0 win over Elizabethtown in Commonwealth Conference action Tuesday night in Huntingdon. The win capped Juniata?s conference record at 7-0 on the season, and secured the number-one seed in the conference postseason for Juniata. The Eagles are now 29-1 on the year. Elizabethtown fell to 17-12 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

The Eagles claimed the match by game scores of 30-11, 30-18 and 30-24.

Juniata controlled the match with an efficient attacking offense and its service game. The Eagles hit .388 as a team in the match, and tossed in 15 aces.

The tightest game of the evening was game three, in which a strong late serving run from Stacey Wasserman pull the visitors within two points, and then a Kelly Downs ace tied the game at 22. But Juniata hung on behind three kills from Laucks and a pair of aces from Kristi Fitzsimmons to secure the 30-24 win.

Playing her final regular-season home match Laucks had a .750 hitting percentage along with three aces and a block. Juniata?s other senior Abby Leonard (Shade/Johnstown) produced seven digs, two assists and an ace in her final regular-season contest in Memorial Gym.

Stephanie Kines (Towson/Towson, Md.) was also in double figures for Juniata with 10 kills and a .833 hitting percentage. She was also tops on the team with three blocks and four aces. Jessica Ritchey (Greencastle-Antrim/Greencastle) dished out 27 assists for the Eagles.

Fitzsimmons had four of Juniata?s 15 aces in the match to pace the team. Tara McMinn (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) was tops on the squad with nine digs, while Kelly Popernik (Bartlett/Bartlett, Ill.) matched Leonard with seven digs.

Kelly Downs had nine kills in the match to pace the Blue Jays while adding two aces and two blocks.

Juniata wraps up its regular season on Saturday with a match at Emory University and a neutral site match against Savannah College of Art & Design.
