Huntingdon, PA - Juniata College senior basketball player Travis Boyd (Juniata Valley/Barree) has been selected to the MAC Honor Roll for his efforts this past week. Along with Players of the Week for both the Commonwealth and Freedom Conferences, the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Conference names three individuals to the MASCAC Honor Roll.

Boyd opened the 2005-06 season by being selected as the Most Valuable Player of the 2005 Mutual Benefit Group "Doc" Greene Invitational after helping Juniata claim the tournament championship. He posted a "double-double" with 19 points and 12 rebounds in Juniata's championship game win over Pitt-Greensburg. In the season opener he scored 11 points and had five rebounds as Juniata topped Lancaster Bible. Boyd also dished out seven assists on the week, including five against Pitt-Greensburg while also providing three steals and a pair of blocks. He averaged 15 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in the two wins. He shot 50-percent from the field on the week, and was a perfect 13-for-13 from the foul line.

Boyd is Juniata's leading returning scorer and rebounder from a season ago when he scored 10.1 points and had 5.6 rebounds per game. He scored in double figures 12 times in his junior season and also reached double figures in rebounding three times. Each of those three occasions he recorded "double-doubles" and has now notched six "double-doubles" in his career. Boyd had scored 580 points and grabbed 284 rebounds entering his senior season, and also had drilled 101 threes prior to his final season.

Boyd is one 14 returning players for Juniata that helped the Eagles start the season 2-0 with the tournament victory. The Eagles will look to improve to 3-0 on Tuesday night when they play a non-conference game at Franklin & Marshall.
