Lancaster, Pa. ? Taking on a highly-competitive field at the Franklin and Marshall Invitational the Juniata College women?s swimming team produced several solid finishes in placing 12th in the 14-team field. The Eagles piled up 78.5 points over the two-day event.

With the top 16 finishers earning points, the Eagles captured points in three individual events over the weekend. Junior Amy Sutherland (Norwich/Norwich, N.Y.) claimed two of those efforts. She earned 4.5 points with a 12th-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke, touching the wall in a time of 2:19.11. She then added an additional two points by placing 15th in the 200-yard freestyle. She swam an excellent time of 2:03.15 in the event.

Also earning individual points for Juniata was Kim Dierolf (Boyertown/Boyertown) who captured points in the 1,650 freestyle. She placed 14th in the event, good for three points, with a time of 19:18.73. Juniata freshman Kristin Musselman (Central Columbia/Bloomsburg) narrowly missed earning points for the Eagles with her 17th-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle in which she claimed a time of 25.90.

Juniata did the majority of its scoring in the relay events. The top finish was a 10th-place effort in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Carlie Zoubek (Paul IV/Burke, Va.), Jenny Bair (Huntingdon/Huntingdon), Collin Thompson (Altoona/Altoona) and Amy Hanson (Lancaster Catholic/Elizabethtown) earned 18 points with their finish. The Blue and Gold than had Musselman, Sutherland, Bair and Hanson post an 11th-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay which earned 18 points for Juniata.

The Eagles came up with a 12th-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay with Sutherland, Musselman, Hanson and Dierolf teaming up to claim the points. And finally Juniata claimed eight points by finishing in 18th place in the 200-yard medley relay. Sutherland, Bair, Musselman and Hanson were again the Eagles earning the points.

Juniata returns to action with a non-conference meet at Lock Haven Dec. 10.
