SELINSGROVE, Pa.? The Juniata College men?s and women?s indoor track and field teams got some of its first looks at some of its conference rivals Saturday afternoon, and held their own earning several top performances at the non-scored Susquehanna Orange & Maroon Classic.

On the women?s side, it was freshman Kelsey Buffenmeyer (Donegal/Mount Joy) doing most of the damage as she earned three separate top-eight finishes. She Juniata?s lone first-place effort of the day as she won the women?s high jump with a leap of 5? 4?, and then added a fourth-place finish in the long jump. She rounded out her day with a fifth-place effort in the 55-meter hurdles.

The Eagles also got a sixth-place effort from Adrienne Beckman (Los Alamos/Los Alamos, N.M.) in the weight throw and then continued strong efforts in the field events as Katie Tavenner (Spring-Ford/Oaks) placed eighth in the shot put. Rounding out the top-eight efforts were seniors Nancy Hayes (Westminster/Westminster, Md.) and Katey Glunt (Bellefonte/Bellefonte) who placed seventh and eighth respectively in the mile.

For the Juniata men the top finish came in the field events where Adam Loser?s (Central York/York) jump of 6? 6? was good for second place in the high jump. The next highest effort came from Randy Anderson (DuBois/DuBois) who placed third in the 55-meter dash and was also sixth in the long jump.

The Eagles then added a pair of eighth-place finishes as Mike Chirdon (Riverview/Verona) placed eighth in the 5,000 and Mark Modak (Sandy Spring Friends/Gaithersburg, Md.) was eighth in the 55-meter hurdles. Juniata also had a second-place effort in the distance-medley relay as the quartet of Shawn Rumery (Thornton Academy/Dayton, Me.), Jeremy Lampert (Portsmouth/Portsmouth, N.H.), Tripp Rudolph (Upper St. Clair/Pittsburgh) and Justin Fritzius (Central York/York) finished in second in the event.
