Midnight Madness Basketball...A Little Early
(Posted October 29, 2001)
Huntingdon, Pa. - The Juniata College men's and women's basketball program will jump start the 2001-02 season with a Midnight Madness on Friday night. It marks the first time in the history of the school that the men and women will hold a joint effort on the night. The biggest not of the evening is that it will begin at 8:00 p.m. and not midnight, in order for maximum attendance by youngsters and adults alike. Doors will open to the Kennedy Sports+Recreation Center on the Juniata campus at 7:45 p.m.
A highlight to the evening will be an opportunity for some lucky fans to hit a half-court shot for a cash prize. In addition, there will be plenty of giveaways as well as the chance to win gift certificates to area restaurants and T-shirts.
There will also be a three-point attempt for a free semester of books for a Juniata student in attendance.
The first 40 individuals in attendance will receive a free Juniata College basketball T-shirt. The cost for admission is $2 for adults (18 and older) and $1 for students with identification.
Events during the evening will include a men's vs. women's three-point shooting contest, a two-ball shoot out with mixed pairs and 15-minute intersquad scrimmages.
Prior to the Midnight Madness event, the Juniata men's and women's basketball teams will host the first of their four scheduled clinics for the Little Eagle/Junior Eagle Basketball Club (which includes boys and girls in grades 1 through 8) at 6:30 p.m. Other clinic dates for the year are November 23, December 9 and January 6. Cost of joining the basketball club is $30. That fee includes entry for all of the schedule clinics, free admission to all Juniata basketball games for the youngster, a T-shirt, basketball, team schedule and a team pen pal.
