HUNTINGDON, Pa. ? Another day, another victory for the Juniata College men?s tennis team as the Eagles took another step towards locking up a Commonwealth Conference postseason berth with a 6-1 victory over Elizabethtown College Tuesday in Huntingdon. Juniata is now 11-1 on the season and 4-0 in the Commonwealth Conference while Elizabethtown fell to 2-11 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

Juniata earned wins in five of the six singles matches, and claimed a pair of doubles wins to secure the doubles point in the match.

The tightest match was at first singles were Neil Eicher earned a three-set victory, claiming the third set in a tie-breaker. Eicher lost the second set in a tie-breaker but bounced back to claim a 6-1, 6-7, 7-6 win, winning the final tie-breaker by a 10-5 score.

Jonathan Skoner (Central Catholic/Pittsburgh) also earned a tie-breaker win in his second singles match as he claimed the first set in a tie-breaker by a score of 7-3 and then went on to post a 7-6, 6-4 win.

Also winning in straight sets were Juniata?s fourth, fifth and sixth singles players. Brandon Long (Lebanon/Lebanon) fought through a tight second set to post a 6-1, 7-5 win at the fourth singles spot for Juniata. Ryan Navarro (Bishop Guilfoyle/Altoona) posted a 6-0, 6-3 triumph at fifth singles for the Eagles and Jonathan Cohen (Highland Regional/Hollywood, Fla.) notched a 6-1, 6-3 triumph at the sixth singles spot.

In doubles action after the team of Cohen and Jack Walfish (Spring-Ford/Royersford) claimed an 8-3 win at third doubles, Juniata picked up the doubles point as Tom Nelson (State College/State College) and Robert Bowser (Dallastown/York) claimed a tight 8-6 win at the second position.

Juniata is back in action on Friday with a non-conference match against Penn State-Altoona in Huntingdon.
