Eagles Place 30 Athletes On Spring Academic Honor Roll

Huntingdon, PA - Juniata College closed the 2005-06 academic year by placing 30 athletes on the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation (MASCAC) Academic Honor Roll for the spring sports season. To be eligible for the award a student-athlete must be a sophomore, junior or senior; have a minimum 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and have completed the spring sports season in good standing on their team.
Juniata's 30 honor roll selections were the seventh-most honorees among the conference institutions. The Eagles had at least one representative from each of the five MASCAC sponsored varsity sports that compete in the spring season.
Juniata's record-breaking baseball team paced the spring sports with 10 honorees on the team. Seven of the team's 10-man senior class received the honor as Troy Beaver (Bellwood-Antis/Bellwood), Eric Bridenbaugh (Central/Martinsburg), Walt Goedkoop (Manheim Township/Lancaster), Darren Hake (Red Lion/Red Lion), Jesse Leonard (Shade/Johnstown), Will Russell (Tyrone/Tyrone) and Cody Zong (Lewistown/McVeytown) were all honored. Sophomore's Josh Lingenfelter (Claysburg-Kimmel/Claysburg), Brian Markovich (Northern Cambria/Northern Cambria) and Andrew Snyder (Punxsutawney/Punxsutawney) rounded out group of baseball players on the Honor Roll.
Juniata's men's track and field team produced eight spots on the honor roll. Seniors Adam Loser (Central York/York), Gary Ondecko Jr (Bishop Carroll/ Northern Cambria) and Mike Vella (Hollidaysburg/Hollidaysburg) all claimed the honor in their final seasons. Randy Anderson (Dubois/Dubois) and Mike Chirdon (Verona/Riverview) represented the junior class and Ryan Conrad (Waynesboro/Waynesboro), Mark Modak (Sandy Spring Friends/Gaithersburg, MD) and Shawn Rumery (Thornton Academy/Dayton, ME) were all Honor Roll members from the sophomore class.
The Eagles' women's outdoor track and field team added another six members to Juniata's Honor Roll tally. Debbie Delaney (Franklin/Reisertown, MD), Katey Glunt (Bellefonte/Bellefonte), Nancy Hayes (Westminster/Westminster) and Jen Marshalek (Montoursville/Montoursville) were the four senior members to claim the honors. Laurn Gates (Bishop Guuilfoyle/Altoona) nabbed an honor roll spot during her junior seasons. The remaining selection was sophomore Adrienne Beckman (Los Alamos/Los Alamos, NM).
The Juniata men's tennis team, which established a new program record for wins in a season, placed five athletes on the Honor Roll. Seniors Robert Bowser (Dallastown/York), Neil Eicher (Altoona/Altoona) and Jack Walfish (Spring-Ford/Royersford) all found a spot on the team following their final seasons. Junior Brandon Long (Lebanon/Lebanon) and sophomore Brian Sykes (Gateway Regional/Woodburry Heights, N.J.) were also selected for the team.
Rounding out Juniata's Honor Roll recipients was senior Abby Sener (Donegal/Marietta) representing the softball program.
