Huntingdon, Pa. ? After dropping a tight decision in their season opener, the Juniata College women?s tennis team made sure that wouldn?t happen again in their home opener as the Eagles swept past Washington & Jefferson by a 9-0 score Saturday in Huntingdon. Juniata got started quickly by posting 8-0 victories at first and second doubles. Caroline Weisser (York Suburban/York) and Maggie Wolenter (Audubon/Audubon, N.J.) were 8-0 winners at first doubles, and Aggie Kwon (Cumberland Valley/Enola) and Amanda Fontana (Trinity/Mechanicsburg) matched that score at second doubles. Molly Coursey (Westminster/Hanover) and Liana James (Boulder/Boulder, Colo.) won their third doubles match by default. The Eagles continued their domination in singles action as three of the six wins came by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Fontana at first singles, Wolenter at third singles, and Kwon at fourth singles all earned victories without dropping a game. Weisser added a singles victory at the second position by a 6-1, 6-2 score, and Coursey dropped just one game of her fifth singles match en route to a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Ariel Otruba (Mansfield/Mansfield) was a default winner at sixth singles. Juniata will be back in action on Sunday as the Eagles travel to take on Catholic University. ###
