HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Buna Duhal, an employment specialist at the Colorado Center for the Blind, will moderate a workshop at Juniata College, "What I Can See," at 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 18 in the Sill Board Room in the von Liebig Center for Science on the Juniata campus.
The workshop is free and open to the public. The workshop is part of a continuing series of workshops focused on diversity sponsored by Juniata's Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
Duhal's workshop will detail the complexities of blindness and offer ways for people to help, if help is needed. She also will talk about a variety of things people should never do when interacting with a person who cannot see.
Duhal, a native of Nepal, was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma as a child. After high school she was chosen to participate in a program to learn English as a Second Language and Computer Technology for the Blind, taught at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Ill.
She earned an associate's degree from the College of DuPage in 1996 and earned a bachelor's degree in journalism in 1998 from Columbia College in Chicago, Ill. In 1998 she entered the Independence Training Program at the Colorado Center for the Blind, and was hired by the center shortly after completing her training.
