Juniata 1, Franciscan 0 STEUBENVILLE, Ohio ? Neither a physical match or the fatigue of playing its second match in less than 24 hours was enough to stop the Juniata College men?s soccer team from earning its fourth victory of the season as the Eagles claimed a 1-0 victory over Franciscan University on Sunday afternoon. Juniata brought its record to 4-3 with the victory while the home team is now 1-3-1. Andrew Steffan (Red Land/Lewisberry) scored the games lone goal in the 31st minute earn the win for the Eagles. Bryan Hess (South Western/Hanover) picked up his second assist of the season on the goal. Juniata had the run of play for most of the match, though the Eagles battled through some physical play in the second half as Franciscan was assessed three yellow cards. Goalkeepers Mark Guthridge (DuBois/DuBois) and Tim Penrod (Moravia/Moravia, N.Y.) combined to keep the home team scoreless over the 90 minutes. The shutout was Juniata?s third of the season. The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday as they host Johns Hopkins University for a non-conference outing. ###
