Dickinson 4, Juniata 1 CARLISLE, Pa. â?? The Juniata College womenâ??s soccer trailed just 2-1 at halftime but Dickinson College and handed the Eagles their fourth loss of the season, 4-1 Tuesday afternoon in Carlisle. With the loss the Blue and Gold dropped to 9-4 on the season, while the Devils improved to 7-5 on the year. The Devils controlled much of the offensive action in the first half of play, however, goalie Lisa Russo (Lakland/Haskell, NJ) was able to come up with a few key saves to keep the game scoreless. Dickinson was able to break threw at the 14:40 minute mark when Lisa Nichols was taken down in the box thus resulting in a penalty kick. Nichols would convert giving Dickinson the early 1-0 lead. The Eagles responded twenty minutes later when Laura Goodlander (Red Land/Red Land) took a long shot and beat keeper Kailyn Hartmann to knot the score at 1-1. Hartmann would not allow another goal and recorded three saves to help keep the Eagles offensive off the scoreboard. Nichols broke the 1-1 tie seconds before the half ended when she hit a hard shot that glanced off goalie Russoâ??s hands and into the net. This gave the Devils the lead and momentum has they entered the second half. The Devils continued on the offensive and out shot the Eagles thirty-five to six and had fourteen corner kicks to the visitorâ??s one. Dickinson added to the lead in the 68th minute when Jessica Griggs converted a long pass from Courtney Anderson to make the score 3-1. Nichols would add another goal to cap the scoring, which gave her the hat trick for the game and added to her team leading totals as she now has thirteen tallies on the year. Russo came up with fifteen saves for the Blue and Gold, nine of them coming in the second half. It was the second-highest single-match total of her career. Juniata returns to action on Thursday when they return to non-conference action at home against Penn State-Altoona. ###
