Swimmers Take Momentum Into Championships

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Juniata College women\'s swimming team insured that the team will carry momentum into the conference championship in two weeks as the Eagles capped their regular season with a 79-61 victory over King\'s College Saturday afternoon. Juniata finished the season with a 6-6 overall record and a 5-3 mark in MAC dual meets. King\'s finishes the season 2-13 and winless in the MAC. Eight first-place finishes propelled the Blue and Gold to the win. Kelly Serfling (Urbana/Frederick, Md.) was the only multiple winner on the day as she touched the wall first in the 100 breaststroke while also winning the 100 butterfly. The day began with Paige Black (Tyrone/Tyrone) earning a victory in the first 200 freestyle. Kelly McErlean (Eastern/Voorhees, N.J.) followed that up with a win in the 100 backstroke and the Eagles were off and running. Betsy Rogers (Castilleja/San Mateo, Calif.) touched the wall first in the 50 freestyle. Also earning a win was Colleen Cribbs (Bishop McNamara/Fort Washington, Md.) who was first in the 100 freestyle along Alison Banks (Fairfax/Fairfax, Va.) who placed first in the 500 freestyle. Juniata wrapped up the day with sweeping the scoring in the 200 IM as Kasey Brough (Carlisle/Gardners) Kristin Musselman (Central Columbia/Bloomsburg) and Collin Thompson (Altoona/Altoona) placing first, second and third in the event. Juniata will be back in Wilkes-Barre for the MAC Championships beginning Feb. 9. Juniata has finished third in the conference each of the past three seasons. ###
