CARLISLE, Pa. - The Juniata College men\'s and women\'s indoor track teams continued their progression towards the MAC Championships with solid performances at the Dickinson Winter Invitational Saturday afternoon. Both Juniata teams placed fourth in the meet, with the women\'s 80 points placing them fourth among eight teams, while the men scored 87 points to rank fourth among seven squads. The Eagle men piled up points in the sprints, beginning with three scoring efforts in the 55-meter dash. Randy Anderson (DuBois/DuBois) won the event, and he was followed by Dusty Sier (Smithsburg/Smithsburg, Md.) in second and John West III (W.B. Saul/Philadelphia) in sixth. Freshman TJ Breya (East Juniata/McClure) then picked up points for the team as he placed fourth in the 400 and seventh in the 200. He also posted a third-place finish in the 55-meter hurdles. Eric Hoover (Brandywine/Wilmington, Del.) contributed a fifth-place finish in the 800 for Juniata. The distance events were also strong for the Eagles, beginning with a third-place effort from Tripp Rudolph (Upper St. Clair/Pittsburgh) in the 1,000. Jason Hoover (Brandywine/Wilmington, Del.) was seventh in the mile for the Eagles and Sam Williams (Central/Roaring Spring) added a seventh-place effort in the 3,000. The Eagles also earned a number of points in the jumps as Anderson won the long jump, followed by Matthew Booth (Allentown Central Catholic/Allentown) in second and Sier in eighth. Booth then added a fourth-place finish in the triple jump. The women scored points in nearly every event on the day, beginning with strong showings in the sprint events. Caitlin Hinson (Danville/Danville) placed first in the 55-meter dash, and added a second-place finish in the 200 for Juniata. Rachel Naar (Algonquin Regional/Southborough, Mass.) placed eighth in the 55. The Eagles then added three point-producing efforts in the 400 as Elena Amatao (Notre Dame Prep./Baltimore, Md.), Cassie Majocha (Burrell/Upper Burrell) and Melissa Johnson (John F. Kennedy/Colonia, N.J.) placed third, fifth and sixth respectively. The women continued to earn points in the distance events as the team had three more athletes earn points in the 1,000. Lia Bella (Morris Catholic/Rockaway, N.J.) led the way with a fifth-place effort, while Megan Jones (Meadville/Meadville) was seventh and Lauren Gates (Bishop Guilfoyle/Altoona) placed eighth. Another three performers captured points in the 3,000 on the day as Kristen Gochnauer (Warwick/Lititz), Meghan Fahy (Brandywine/Wilmington, Del.) and Kayla Thompson (Huntingdon/James Creek) were fifth, sixth and eighth respectively. Laura Rupprecht (Brunswick/Jefferson, Md.) added an eighth-place effort in the mile for Juniata. The Eagles also secured a number of points in the field events. Kelsey Buffenmyer (Donegal/Mount Joy) earned a victory in the high jump, and then placed second in the long jump. She also had a fifth-place finish in the 55-meter hurdles on the day. Anna Bloom (Liberty/Eldersburg, Md.) contributed a fifth-place jump in the triple jump to round out the individual scoring for the women. Juniata will return to action next weekend when the team competes at Bucknell. ###
