Eagle Women Track Looks Ready For MAC Meet

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Against many of the same teams it will face at next weekend\'s MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, the Eagles enjoyed a strong day at the non-scored Susquehanna Open Saturday afternoon. Both the men\'s and women\'s teams had numerous top-eight finishes on the day The women\'s team had the lone victory of the afternoon, and it came from sophomore Kelsey Buffenmyer (Donegal/Mount Joy), who cleared 1.57-meters to win the high jump. Buffenmyer also added a fourth-place finish in the 55-meter hurdles. Juniata got a number of strong additional efforts on the track on the day. Meghan Fahy (Brandywine/Wilmington, Del.) had one of her best races of the season as she finished third in the 5,000. Caitlin Hinson (Danville/Danville) had a strong day with a fifth-place finish for Juniata in the 55-meter dash. Matching that fifth-place effort was Elena Amato (Notre Dame Prep./Baltimore, Md.) who crossed the line fifth in the 400. Laura Rupprecht (Brunswick/Jefferson, Md.) was also in the top-eight as she placed sixth in the mile. Adding a top-eight finish in the field events was Maggie Wolenter (Audubon/Audubon, N.J.) who placed eighth in the weight throw. As they have for much of the season, the Juniata men got their top efforts both in the sprints and the jumping events. It started with Randy Anderson (DuBois/DuBois) placing second in the 55-meter dash. Also earning top-eight efforts on the track were T.J. Breya (East Juniata/McClure) who finished fourth in the 55-meter hurdles, and Eric Hoover (Brandywine/Wilmington, Del.) who was eighth in the 800. Then in the jumping events, Matthew Booth (Allentown Central Catholic/Allentown) and Anderson each placed in the top eight in both the long jump and triple jump. Booth placed third in the long jump and fifth in the triple jump while Anderson was fourth in the long jump and eighth in the triple jump. Juniata will compete at the 2007 MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships next Saturday at Susquehanna. ###
