LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Juniata College baseball team showed all the rust that would be expected in playing its first outdoor action of the season as Lynchburg College dealt the Eagles a pair of losses in Juniata\'s season-opening doubleheader Saturday afternoon. Juniata is now 0-2 on the season while Lynchburg raised its record to 6-2 with the wins. Juniata got a solid pitching effort from Paul Dunklebarger (State College/Bellefonte) in game two, but the Eagles managed just eight hits over the two games. In game two, trailing 2-0 in the top of the seventh, the Eagles threatened to tie the contest. Juniata put the first two runners on, and then an RBI groundout from Ian Thorne (Seneca Valley/Germantown, Md.) brought home Juniata\'s first run of the game and left the tying run at third. But Lynchburg D.W. Moore induced a pop out to end the contest. Moore went all seven innings scattering four hits and striking out six to earn the victory. Dunklebarger nearly matched him as he tossed 5 2-3 innings, surrendering a pair of earned runs on just two hits. The junior fanned three in the game. Lynchburg pushed across its first run in the bottom of the third when Jeff Lincoln led off the frame with a solo home run. The home team then scored its second run in the bottom of the sixth when Steven Wickline delivered an RBI single to bring home Cameron Grant. Four different Eagles finished with one hit apiece in the game, with Dan Kauffman (Penn Manor/Lancaster) scoring the team\'s only run. In game one, the home team pushed across four runs in the bottom of the first inning, and the Eagles never recovered as Lynchburg rolled to the 8-2 win. A RBI doubles from Matthew Winston and Eric O\'Brien along with a run-scoring single from Jonathan Sewell and a sacrifice fly provided Lynchburg with its four-run lead off Juniata starter Jason Enoch (Hempfield/Landisville). That was all the offense Lynchburg hurler Jason Kelly needed as he went all seven innings, allowing four hits and a pair of runs while fanning 10. Enoch was charged with the loss for Juniata as he allowed seven runs, six earned, over 4 2-3 innings. Lynchburg added single runs in the second, third, fifth and sixth innings for its total of eight runs in the game. Juniata got one run back in the top of the third when Andrew Kriss (John Carroll/Forest Hill, Md.) doubled to lead off and then scored on a groundout from Kevin Small (Wheaton North/Wheaton, Ill.). Juniata added another run in the fourth when Kauffman launched a solo home run. Juniata\'s scheduled game against Lynchburg has been cancelled, so the team will return to action March 3 when it begins play as part of a spring break trip to Chandler, Az. ###
