HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Juniata College senior men\'s volleyball player Jeremy Barndt (Souderton/Souderton) has been selected as the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) Tait Division Player of the Week for his play this past week. Barndt is the second-consecutive Juniata player to win the weekly award and it\'s his first honor of the season. It\'s the second time in his career that he has captured a weekly honor from the EIVA. In Juniata\'s lone match this past week, Barndt turned in one of the fines performances of his career. In a five-game victory over Division I East Stroudsburg the middle hitter knocked out a career-best 24 kills and committed just one attack error on 28 swings for a remarkable .821 hitting percentage. He did not commit an error on his first 20 swings and the 24-kill effort was the first time in his career he has posted 20 or more kills in a match. Barndt also produced a team-high five blocks in the match, and also added two assists, one dig and one ace. Already one of the most prolific middle hitters in Juniata history, Barndt is enjoying an outstanding senior season. Through 13 matches he ranks third on the team in kills, and is averaging nearly three kills per game. He also leads Juniata in blocks with 58 for an average of 1.16 per game. His .460 hitting percentage is second best on the team and ranks fourth in the EIVA. Barndt\'s per game average in kills and his hitting percentage is well ahead of the pace he set last season when he was an All-EIVA selection and a Division III All-American. He is currently 25 blocks away from moving into Juniata\'s all-time top-5 in career blocks as he has piled up 310 blocks His current hitting percentage of .460 ranks as the highest of his career, and has helped him raise his career hitting percentage to .416. Barndt has played a crucial role as Juniata is enjoying a solid 2007 season. The Eagles are 9-4 on the year and 4-3 in the tough EIVA Tait Division. The Blue and Gold have held the top spot in the CSTV/AVCA Division III Coaches Poll every week of the 2007 season and are unbeaten against Division III competition on the year. Juniata returns to action March 17 with a conference match against Princeton. ###
