HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Juniata College senior men\'s volleyball player Jeremy Barndt (Souderton/Souderton) has been selected as the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) Tait Division Player of the Week for the second time this season. Barndt is the third Juniata player this year selected by the conference office for the Tait Division Player of the Week honor. Barndt produced two outstanding matches against Division I foes this past week. In a 3-2 comeback victory over George Mason he knocked out 14 kills with just two errors for a .545 hitting percentage. Barndt also had a match-high six blocks in the victory while adding four digs, three assists and an ace. Earlier in the week the senior middle hitter had 12 kills with a .409 hitting percentage as the Eagles dropped a 3-2 decision to nationally-ranked Penn State. He also had three blocks, three digs and a pair of aces in the match. For the week Barndt had 26 kills with a .477 hitting percentage and nine blocks. Barndt is enjoying a stellar senior season as he has helped Juniata stay ranked atop Division III throughout the season. He has knocked out 209 kills through 19 matches and his .444 hitting percentage ranks second on the team and second in all of Division III. His kill total is third on the team and he also leads the Eagles in blocks with 84. His nine blocks last week moved him into fifth place in Juniata history with 336 career blocks. Barndt has posted 10 or more kills 12 times this season, including 24 finishes with just one error in a victory over East Stroudsburg. Eleven times this year he has posted at least four blocks in a match, with a high of nine in a win over Division III rival Springfield. Barndt has been a major factor as the Eagles have enjoyed a strong season through 19 matches. Juniata is 13-6 on the year and 4-4 in the EIVA Tait where they are fourth in the standings. The Eagles have also held the top spot in the AVCA/CSTV Division III each week in 2007 and are unbeaten against Division opponents on the year. Juniata gets back into action on Tuesday when the team plays at EIVA Tait opponent East Stroudsburg. ###
