HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Juniata College men\'s tennis team held off a strong comeback attempt from Frostburg State to earn a 5-4 victory in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon in Huntingdon. Aaron Rhodes (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) overcame a one-set deficit to claim a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory at fifth singles to secure the win for Juniata (3-1). Rhodes led 4-1 in the final set, and then withstood a charge from Frostburg\'s Chris Schoenbauer to capture the victory. Juniata led 2-1 after winning two of the doubles encounters. Brandon Long (Lebanon/Lebanon) and Jarrad Silver (Walt Whitman/Bethesda, Md.) recorded an 8-3 win at first doubles, while Jonathan Skoner (Central Catholic/Pittsburgh) and Jau Feixas (University of Barcelona/Barcelona) won by an 8-4 margin at third doubles. Rhodes and Casey Chew (Phoenixville/Phoenixville) led late in their second doubles match before falling 9-8. Juniata then promptly moved within one victory of claiming the match as Long cruised to a 6-3, 6-4 victory at fourth singles, and Chew notched a 6-0, 6-1 win at the sixth singles spot. But Frostburg inched closer as Silver was defeated 6-1, 6-0 at second singles. Skoner won the first set of his singles match before suffering a 6-7, 6-1, 6-2 loss. Ryan Navarro (Bishop Guilfoyle/Altoona) extended his second set into a tie breaker but was defeated 6-4, 7-6. That set up Rhodes who overcame the rough first set and then the comeback attempt to seal the victory. Juniata will return to action on Monday with a conference road match against Elizabethtown. ###
