From Haydn to Ellington: Juniata\'s Jazz Ensemble, Orchestra in Concert

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Juniata College Jazz Ensemble and the college's orchestra "Sinfonia" will perform a spring concert at 3 p.m., Saturday, April 21 in Rosenberger Auditorium in the Halbritter Center for the Performing Arts on the Juniata campus.
The concert is free and open to the public.
The jazz group will perform an eclectic program of instrumental music, including "Summer's Last Getaway," by Bill Liston, and "Trumpets Out Front," by Doug Beach. The group also will play "Gospel John," a fusion jazz hit made popular by trumpeter Maynard Ferguson.
The jazz ensemble will collaborate with the orchestra for a full-orchestra version of the Duke Ellington standard "Sophisticated Lady."
The orchestra will perform portions of "Symphony No. 94 (Surprise)," by Austrian composer Franz Joseph Haydn. The also will perform "Allegretto (Movement 2)" from "Symphony No. 7."
