HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Juniata College men\'s tennis team was unable to close its regular season in the fashion it desired as the Eagles dropped a tight 5-4 decision to Gettysburg College in its season finale Thursday afternoon in Huntingdon. The Eagles close the year with a record of 5-6, but will still have athletes competing at the MASCAC Individuals and Doubles Championships this weekend. Gettysburg also wrapped up its season on Thursday and the Bullets closed the year at 6-5. The two teams split the six singles matches with Juniata claiming a pair of victories in three sets, but Gettysburg had a 2-1 edge in doubles play to achieve the winning score. Jonathan Skoner (Central Catholic/Pittsburgh) teamed with Jau Feixas (University of Barcelona/Barcelona, Spain) to give Juniata an 8-3 win at third doubles. But Brandon Long (Lebanon/Lebanon) and Jarrad Silver (Walt Whitman/Bethesda, Md.) fell by an 8-6 score at first doubles while Casey Chew (Phoenixville/Phoenixville) and Aaron Rhodes (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) were stopped 8-3 at second doubles. Skoner continued his strong day in singles action as he rallied from a one set deficit to claim a thrilling 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 win at the first singles position. The Eagles also picked up singles wins at the lower portion of the ladder as Rhodes and Chew each avenged their doubles defeat with a singles win. Rhodes battled his way to a 6-1, 6-7, 10-3 triumph at fifth singles and Chew picked up a 6-4, 6-1 win at sixth singles. Playing in his final regular season match as the lone senior on Juniata\'s roster Long was unable to pick up a victory as he fell 6-4, 6-4 at fourth singles. Ryan Navarro (Bishop Guilfoyle/Altoona) dropped a 6-4, 6-3 decision at third singles and Silver fell by a 6-2, 7-5 score at second singles. Juniata will return five of its six players who saw regular action in the singles lineup this season when the team returns to the courts next spring. ###
