HUNTINGDON, Pa - Juniata College freshman infielder Rachel Nagy (Nazareth/Nazareth) was rewarded for an outstanding freshman season as she was named to the 2007 All-Commonwealth Conference Softball Team as selected by the conference\'s eight head coaches. Nagy was selected to the Commonwealth second team as a third baseman and was on of just two freshmen to make the All-Conference squad. Nagy enjoyed a prolific offensive season for the Blue and Gold as she led the team in several categories. She posted a team-high .420 average on the season, a mark that ranked her second in the Commonwealth. She closed the year with 37 hits in 30 games, with her hit total also rankling as the top mark on the team. Eleven of her 37 hits were for extra bases as she knocked out three home runs and added eight doubles on the year. Nagy closed the season with 25 RBI which ranked first on the team and her 14 runs scored was the third-highest total on the Juniata squad. Nagy hit safely in 21 of Juniata\'s 30 games and finished with at least two hits in 12 contests. She also produced three three-hit outings on the year. She drove in at least two runs eight times, including Juniata\'s season finale in which she pounded out two home runs and drove in four runs. Nagy also closed the year with a .943 fielding percentage and committed just six errors while recording 35 defensive assists. She also hit .350 in Juniata\'s 14 conference games during the year. Nagy\'s freshmen campaign ranks as one of the best offensive seasons in the history of the Juniata softball program. Her hits, RBI and batting average totals are all rank in the top-10 for Juniata single-season records. Her 25 RBI are the second-highest single-season mark in program history. She then ranked seventh in hits and eighth in batting average. With a roster filled with underclassmen, Juniata posted a 13-17 record in 2007. The Eagles had just three juniors on the team, and do not lose a single player to graduation. ###
