HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Four Eagles scored one goal each as the 19th-ranked Juniata College field hockey squad breezed past 20th-ranked Elizabethtown College, 4-1, Tuesday afternoon at Winton Hill Field in Huntingdon. Elizabethtown got on the board early, as Brenna Noon scored just 42 seconds into the game off an assist by Caitlin Smith. The Blue Jays held that lead for the next 14 minutes of clock time, until Leslie Stern (Felton, Pa./Red Lion) knotted the game at 1-1 with 20:20 remaining in the opening half. Senior Kim Wagner (Middletown, Pa./Middletown) was credited with the assist. Michelle Campbell (Annville, Pa./Northern Lebanon) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with 11:15 left in the half with her unassisted goal, and Wagner padded the lead with a goal of her own with less than five minutes to go until halftime. Freshman Paula Price (Camp Hill, Pa./East Pennsboro) rounded out the scoring with an insurance goal barely two-and-a-half minutes into the second half. Junior Abby Funk (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) and sophomore Denalyn Spratt (Haddon Heights, N.J./Haddon Heights) split the goaltending duties for Juniata, with Funk playing nearly 58 minutes of the game and earning the win. Funk stopped six Elizabethtown shots on goal, while Spratt was credited with three saves. The Blue Jays outshot Juniata 16-12, and had a commanding 17-6 advantage in penalty corners. The Eagles (3-1, 0-0 Landmark) will head to New Jersey this weekend for games against 10th-ranked Rowan College and Richard Stockton College. -30-
