BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Both the Juniata men\'s and women\'s cross country teams competed at Lehigh University\'s Brooks Paul Short Run on Friday in Bethlehem, Pa. Sophomore Sam Williams (Roaring Spring, Pa./Central) was the top Juniata runner in the men\'s race, finishing the 8 km course in 26:32, a 59-second improvement over his previous personal best time. Williams was 19th overall out of 266 runners in the event. Williams was followed by Matt Bailey (East Petersburg, Pa./Hempfield) in 47th place (27:17), Eric Hoover (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) in 157th place (28:47), Tripp Rudolph (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) in 165th place (28:54), and Jason Hoover (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) in 169th place (28:57). As a team, Juniata was 22nd out of 39 squads in the Division II and III race. On the women\'s side, Laura Rupprecht (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) was the top Juniata runner, placing 37th out of 240 runners. She completed the 6 km course in 24:03. Meghan Jones (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) was the next Juniata finisher in 63rd place (24:34), followed by Megan McQuillan (Severna Park, Md./Seton Keough) in 83rd place (24:54), Aubrey Cyphert (North East, Pa./Seneca) in 84th place (24:55), and Megan Peterson (Canton, Pa./Canton) in 158th place (26:27). The women\'s team placed 14th out of 33 squads in the event. The two teams will compete at the Goucher Invitational, next Saturday, Oct. 6, in Baltimore, Md. -30-
