Women\'s cross country eighth, men 11th, at CMU Invitational

PITTSBURGH - Sophomore Laura Rupprecht (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) posted a time of 19:32.03 over a 5 km course to finish 13th overall, and lead the Juniata College women\'s cross country team to an eighth place finish out of 20 teams at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational, Saturday morning in Pittsburgh. Sophomore Matt Bailey (East Petersburg, Pa./Hempfield) was the top Juniata men\'s finisher, finishing 27th overall with a time of 26:48.71 over an 8 km course. As a team, the men finished 11th out of 23 squads in the event. Megan McQuillan (Severna Park, Md./Seton Keough) was 34th overall with a time of 20:14.56, followed by Meghan Jones (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) in 44th place with a time of 20:25.51, Aubrey Cyphert (North East, Pa./Seneca) in 56th place with 20:49.92, and Megan Peterson (Canton, Pa./Canton) in 82nd position with a time of 21:35.64. Rounding out scoring runners for the Eagles were Lindsay Norton (Glen Rock, Pa./Susquehannock) in 122nd place (23:13.57), and Elizabeth Linde (Kirkwood, Pa./Solanco) in 131st place (23:27.55). Sam Williams (Roaring Spring, Pa./Central) followed Bailey among Juniata finishers in the men\'s race, finishing 63rd with a time of 27:38.26. Jason Hoover (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) was 69th overall in a time of 27:46.58, Tripp Rudolph (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) was 95th in a time of 28:18.84, and Steve Schmitt (New Providence, Pa./Solanco) was 97th in a time of 28:20.37. Rounding out the field for the Eagles were Matt Wagner (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) in 108th position (28:45.23) and Shawn Rumery (Dayton, Maine/Thornton Academy) in 118th place (29:02.90). The Eagles will have next weekend off to prepare for the Landmark Conference Cross Country Championships on October 27 in Baltimore.
