HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Jorge Zeballos, a diversity consultant, will offer a workshop at Juniata College called \"Cosmic Race, Rainbow People and Other Myths\" at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 24 in the Sill Boardroom in the von Liebig Center for Science on the Juniata campus. The workshop is free and open to the public. The workshop is part of Juniata\'s Beyond Tolerance series, sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Zeballos will explore the racial identity of Latinos by explaining how various Hispanic cultures define themselves. Zeballos will explore the historical and contemporary forces that shape the Latino identity. Zeballos also will lead a discussion on how the issue of racial identity makes an impact on the struggle for social justice in Latin America and the United States. Zeballos spent his formative years in Lima, Peru and immigrated to the United States to attend college. He earned a bachelor\'s degree in political science from Rutgers University. Zeballos has presented workshops on this topic as well as race, race relations and sexual orientation to such groups as the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity, the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute and the White Privilege Conference. He serves on the boards of the Center for Hispanic Policy, the Minority Concerns Committee and the Center for the Study of White American Culture.
