HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Juniata College women's volleyball team completed a four-match sweep of the 2007 Wid Guisler Invitational tournament, with a pair of wins in Saturday's second day of competition at the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center in Huntingdon, Pa. Juniata downed Eastern University, 3-0, and then knocked off 11th-ranked Cal State-East Bay, also by a 3-0 score. The second-ranked Eagles began the day by defeating Eastern, 30-21, 30-18, and 30-14. The Eagles compiled a .305 attack percentage, while holding Eastern to a .058 attack rate. The match proved to be an opportunity for Juniata head coach Larry Bock to get his newer players and reserves some significant playing time. Michelle Morchesky (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) led Juniata with 13 kills to go with 10 digs. Freshman Kristin Noetzel (Closter, N.J./Northern Valley Regional) was the only other Eagle hitter with a double-digit kill total, as she finished with 10 kills. Cassie Dickmann (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) tallied five blocks on the night. Freshman Steph Strauss (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) tallied 33 set assists during the match. Defensively, Jessica Ritchey (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) had a team-high 11 digs. Juniata closed out the 2007 Wid Guisler with its third win over a ranked opponent in the last four days, dispatched Cal State-East Bay 30-17, 30-27, and 31-29. Amber Thomas (Ephrata, Pa./Conestoga Valley) led the Eagles with a game-high 14 kills to go with her 12 digs, followed by Megan Lamens (Schellsburg, Pa./Berlin Brothersvalley) with nine terminations. Megan Sollenberger (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) dominated defensively with 22 digs. Ritchey also logged 15 digs on the nights. Beth Kozak (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) had 43 set assists in the win. Erin Albert (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) had four blocks, and Molly Sollenberger (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) had three service aces to go with nine digs.
