BALTIMORE - The Juniata College women\'s cross country squad captured the first championship in the league\'s history, winning the Landmark Conference Women\'s Cross Country Championship, Saturday afternoon at Goucher College in Baltimore. Juniata finished atop the scoreboard with 64 points, followed by Moravian (75), Catholic (82), Susquehanna (87), Scranton (115), Drew (121), Merchant Marine Academy (121), Goucher (173). Juniata coaches Jon Cutright and Doug Hoover were named Landmark Conference Women\'s Cross Country Coaching Staff of the Year. Laura Rupprecht (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) finished third overall, completing the 6 km course in 24:42, earning First team All-Landmark honors in the process. Aubrey Cyphert (North East, Pa./Seneca) was 11th with a time of 25:49, and Meghan Jones (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) was 13th with a time of 25:53; both were named Second team All-Landmark Conference. Megan McQuillan (Severna Park, Md./Seton Keough) was 16th with a time of 26:03, and Megan Peterson (Canton, Pa./Canton) was 21st with a time of 26:50, to round out scoring runners for the Eagles. The men\'s cross country squad finished second out of eight teams with 53 points in the Landmark Conference Men\'s Cross Country Championship, and trailed the winning team from Susquehanna University by just one point. Merchant Marine (95) was third, followed by Scranton (111), Goucher (125), Catholic (134), Moravian (140), and Drew (255). Juniata placed four runners among the top ten finishers. Matt Bailey (East Petersburg, Pa./Hempfield) was third overall on the 8 km course with a time of 28:14, while Eric Hoover (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) was fifth in a time of 28:28; both were named to the All-Landmark Conference first squad. Sam Williams (Roaring Spring, Pa./Central) was ninth in 28:49 while Jason Hoover was tenth with a time of 28:50, and both earned Second team All-Landmark honors. Tripp Rudolph (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair), Steve Schmitt (New Providence, Pa./Solanco), and Matt Wagner (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) finished 26th, 27th, and 28th respectively, with Rudolph posting Juniata\'s final scoring time with a run of 30:14. Schmitt posted a time of 30:17, while Wagner\'s time was 30:25. The Eagle cross country teams have two weeks to prepare for the NCAA Mideast Regional meet, which will take place on November 10 in Bethlehem, Pa.
