Swimming opens season against Catholic, Randolph-Macon

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Juniata College women\'s swimming opened its 2007-08 season at a double-dual meet hosted by Catholic University on Friday night in Washington, D.C., falling to both the host Cardinals, 75-16, and Randolph-Macon College, 84-6. Sophomore Kelly Serfling (Frederick, Md./Urbana) had the lone Juniata event win, with her first place finish in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:17.52. Senior Kasey Brough (Gardners, Pa./Carlisle) posted a pair of third place finishes - in the 1000 Freestyle, with a time of 11:50.22, and in the 500 Freestyle, with a time of 5:48.22. Lindsay Cooper (Altoona, Pa.) finished third in the 50 Freestyle with her time of 26.76. The Juniata team also finished third in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 2:07.80. The Eagles (0-2) return to the pool on Saturday, Nov. 17, in Scranton, Pa., against both the University of Scranton and Goucher College. -30-
