CARLISLE, Pa. -- The Juniata College men\'s and women\'s track and field teams opened their 2007-2008 campaign at the Dickinson College Holiday Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 1. The women finished seventh with 33 points, as five women accounted for all of Juniata\'s scoring. Freshman Amanda Kopetsky and senior Caitlin Hinson led the way. Kopetsky comfortably led the 800m race from start to finish and posted her first collegiate victory with a time of 2:36.15. That time places her fourth on the all-time Juniata College performance list in that event indoors. She also ran a leg on Juniata\'s fourth place 4x200m relay team. Meanwhile, Hinson posted fourth place finishes in both the 55m dash (7.71) and the 200m dash (28.22), as well as running leadoff on the 4x200m relay team. Hinson\'s time in the 55m dash equaled her career best time and keeps her in second place on the all-time Juniata College performance list in that event indoors. Three other women scored for the Lady Eagles. Freshman Courtney DeGemmis took 3rd in the 400m dash (1:06.26) and ran a leg on the 4x200m relay. Freshman Andrea Burton ran the final leg of the 4x200m relay. Finally, fellow freshman Stephanie Varner took 7th in the pole vault with a jump of 2.59m (8\' 6\"). That mark places her in a three-way tie for the indoor school record in the pole vault. The Juniata men finished 8th with 39 points, with five men accumulating those points. Senior Matt Booth led the scoring for the Eagles. Booth captured the long jump title with a leap of 6.80m (22\' 3.75\"). He followed that up with a third place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 12.87m (42\' 3\"). Sophomore TJ Breya took third in the 400m dash (52.08) and fourth in the 55m hurdles (8.39). Fellow sophomore Ryan Baird took third in the pole vault with a leap of 3.81m (12\' 6\").
