HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College senior Garrett Bull (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) scored a career-high 20 points on Senior Day to lead the Eagles to a 72-62 win over Goucher College, in Landmark Conference men's basketball action Sunday afternoon at the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center in Huntingdon, Pa. Bull, who went 5-of-6 from three-point range, was one of five Juniata players to score in double figures; David Thompson (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) tallied 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field, while Eric Mueseler (Latrobe, Pa./Latrobe) and Brian Cannon (Fallston, Md./Fallston) each finished with 12 points. Kyle Opitz (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine Richland) logged 11 points on the afternoon. Juniata (14-8, 7-4 Landmark) dominated the boards 36-26, including a 12-8 advantage on the offensive glass that led to 21 second-chance points. With the game tied at 38-38 at the 16:42 mark of the second half, Juniata went on a 8-0 run that was launched on a Cannon layup and fueled by a layup and a pair of foul shots by Mueseler. After a jumper by Goucher's Amir Hakim interrupted the run, Thompson responded with a three-pointer to give the Eagles a 49-40 lead with 11:44 to play. The lead reached its widest at 11 points, 60-49, following a pair of Mueseler free throws with 6:26 on the clock. The closest Goucher would cut the margin was to six points, 61-55, on a Darrin Boswell jumper. After Bull and the Gophers' Miguel Negron traded three-pointers, a pair of baskets by Cannon extended the Eagle lead to 68-58 with just 1:37 on the clock. Juniata defended its lead by going 6-of-6 at the line over the final minute, while holding Goucher to just 1-of-6 shooting from the field. Negron led Goucher offensively with 12 points, while Boswell tallied 11 points for the Gophers in the losing effort. Juniata continues Landmark Conference play next Saturday, Feb. 16, when it faces Drew University in a road contest in Madison, N.J. -30-
