WOMEN'S SWIMMING (3-4): Jan. 23 at Susquehanna; Jan. 26 at Elizabethtown.
Juniata traveled to Widener on Saturday afternoon and suffered a 111-81 loss to the Pioneers after being out of competition for a month and a half. The last time the Eagles were in action came on December 5, but a cancellation of the scheduled December 8 meet with Scranton and the semester break have kept the blue and gold tankers out of the competitive pool. The loss snaps a three-meet winning streak for Juniata and drops the Eagles to 3-4 on the year. The meet started well for Juniata which took first in the 200-yard medley relay (2:00.17) with the team of senior Erinn Soule (Manheim Township/Lititz), sophomore Kim Allen (Susquehanna Township/Harrisburg), senior Jenn Dorsch (Gov. Thomas Johnson/Frederick, MD) and freshman Kathleen Trainor (Upper Merion/King of Prussia). It would be the only lead that the Eagles would have as Widener placed first in the next three races. Individually, Allen was the only Juniata performer to take top honors on the afternoon. She touched first in both the 200-yard individual medley (2:21.54) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:33.37). Trainor was second in both the 100-yard freestyle (59.50) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:07.58), while Dorsch was the runner up in the 50-yard freestyle (27.40) and senior Katie Lloyd (Liberty/Bethlehem) was second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:40.32).
MEN'S AND WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD: Jan. 26 at Bucknell Invitational.
Juniata got back into action on Saturday afternoon at the DuCharme Relays hosted by Dickinson. The Eagle men took first with 88 points, while the Juniata women placed third out of six teams with 42 points. Dickinson won the women's outing with 126 points. For the men, junior Dusty Lehr (Bermudian Springs/New Oxford) and freshman Jeremy Weber (Garden Spot/Mohnton) paced the unit. Lehr took first in the 55-meter high hurdles (7.94), the high jump (6' 1 1/2") and the pole vault (14' 6"), while Weber won the long jump (21' 8 1/4") and the triple jump (41' 4 1/2"). In addition, the 4x400-meter relay team placed first for the Juniata men (3:40.27).
