MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Juniata College sophomore Alyssa Erb (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) allowed just one hit and carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning to lead the Eagles to a 3-0 win over Philadelphia Biblical University, in softball action Wednesday morning in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Eagles completed a sweep of both Wednesday games with a 3-2 win over Neumann College, early Wednesday afternoon. Against Philadelphia Biblical, Erb fanned six Crimson Eagle batters, while allowed PBU's only hit with two outs in the sixth inning. Juniata logged all the offense it would need in the game's first inning, as Caley McCool's (Spring Mills, Pa./Penns Valley) single drove in Tara Carl (Duke Center, Pa./Otto-Eldred) and Liz Schmitt (Knoxville, Tenn./H. Frank Carey, N.Y.). McCool crossed the plate in the third inning for Juniata's third run, after getting singled home by Melissa Moffat (Oceanside, Calif./Oceanside). McCool and Rachel Nagy (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) each finished the day 3-for-4, while Sarah Eckard (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) and Stacy Nagy (Millerton, Pa./Troy) each went 2-for-4. Schmitt provided seventh-inning heroics to lead the Eagles past Neumann, as she belted a two-run, two-out home run in the top of the inning that scored Carl, and helped Juniata post the 3-2 victory over the Knights. Juniata trailed the Knights 2-0 after four innings, after Neumann doubled home one run in the second and plated another with a home run in the fourth. Rachel Nagy got Juniata on the board with a home run in the fifth inning, setting the stage for Schmitt to complete the come-back in the seventh. Junior righthander Pam Mansell (Centre Hall, Pa./Penns Valley) scattered eight hits on her way to the complete game victory. Juniata improved to 3-2 on its spring break trip to Myrtle Beach. The Eagles will continue play on Thursday with games against Gettysburg College and Green Mountain College (Vt.). -30-
