HUNTINGDON, Pa. --Juniata College will host a free carnival for small children from pre-kindergarten up to third-graders from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, April 6 at the Intramural Gym in the Kennedy Sports and Recreation Center on the Juniata campus.

In addition to the carnival, children and parents can get an up-close look at a variety of service vehicles during the carnival's "Motor Madness" in the service plaza near Ellis Hall, including a fire truck, a U.S. Coast Guard boat, and ambulance and a police car and police motorcycle.

All children must be accompanied by a parent or a guardian or they cannot attend. The carnival is sponsored by the Juniata College Community Service office. For more information, please call Brenton Mitchell, residence director and Americorps volunteer, at (814) 641-3352.

Motor Madness also will feature a variety of other service vehicles. The Huntingdon Fire Department also will set up its Fire Safety Trailer. The trailer is a model house, including a mock-up kitchen, bedroom and bathroom, that provides training for children and parents in what to do when faced with a fire emergency.

Free food and snacks will be provided, including hot dogs, juice and snow cones.
Visitors will get a chance to participate in a variety of games, including a doctor/nurse dress-up station, face painting, a duckie pond, beadmaking, button making, sand art and temporary tattoos.

The Juniata Eagle mascot also will be in attendance for the entire carnival.

Various student organizations and community agencies will be present to provide games, activities and educational materials. Organizations include the Women's Rugby Club, Habitat for Humanity, Circle K, Health Occupations Students of America, the Salvation Army, the United Way, Juniata Instructors of the Future and Huntingdon House.
