HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College senior first baseman Dan Kauffman (Conestoga, Pa./Penn Manor) sits atop the Division III baseball statistical leaderboards in three categories, when the first edition of national statistical rankings for 2008 were released by the NCAA earlier this week.

Kauffman leads the nation in slugging percentage (1.128), on base percentage (0.716), and base on balls per game (1.72 per game). He checks in at second in the nation in total walks with 31, and is ninth in the nation in batting average with a .511 average through 18 games played.

In home runs, Kauffman is 16th in total home runs with seven, and 14th in home runs per game (0.39 per game).

Also ranked among NCAA Division III leaders is senior pitcher Jason Enoch (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield). The righthander is ranked 26th in total strikeouts with 47, and ranks 35th in strikeouts per nine innings (10.65). He is also ranked 26th in fewest hits allowed per nine innings (5.89), and checks in at 43rd in the nation in victories with four.

As a team, Juniata is ranked 109th in the nation in batting average (.319), 77th in slugging percentage (.458), and 82nd in fielding percentage (.956). The Blue and Gold check in at 77th in Division III in triples per game (0.44) and 95th in home runs per game (0.56), and are 82nd in double plays per game (0.89).

The Eagles, led by first-year head coach Tom Gibboney, are currently 12-7 overall, 5-0 in the Landmark Conference. Juniata had an 11-game winning streak, matching the longest in program history, snapped in Wednesday's 11-2 loss at Messiah College. The Eagles will resume Landmark Conference competition this weekend when they travel to the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y., for a three-game set.
