'Bright Visions' Highlight Student Theatre Accomplishments

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Eight Juniata College theatre students will direct individual theatrical works by acclaimed playwrights in the multi-stage production "Bright Visions," which will be performed Wednesday, April 16 through Saturday, April 19 starting at 7:30 p.m. in the Suzanne von Liebig Theatre and the Movement Studio in the Halbritter Center for the Performing Arts.
Admission to any of the productions is free. Two student productions will be staged simultaneously in the Movement Studio and the von Liebig Theatre. Four productions will be staged in each space every evening at 7:30, 8, 8:30 and 9 p.m.
The student pieces were conceived, directed and performed as part of the Juniata College Liberal Arts Symposium, a daylong event celebrating student research and creativity on April 16.
The student performance pieces will be as follows:
7:30 p.m.
Movement Studio: Kellyn Miller, a senior from Tyrone, Pa., is directing Act IV, Scene 2, of "The Country Wife," by William Wycherly.
von Liebig Theatre: Gerald Prosser, a sophomore from Hollidaysburg, Pa., is directing "The Proposal," by Anton Chekov.
8 p.m.
Movement Studio: Mandi Yeager, a senior from Curwensville, Pa., will direct Act II, Scene 3, from "The Tempest," by William Shakespeare.
von Liebig Theatre: Tricia Bitetto, a senior from Ringoes, N.J., is directing "The Philadelphia," by David Ives.
8:30 p.m.
Movement Studio: Andrea Locke, a senior from Sewell. N.J., is directing Act I, Scene 4, from "Marisol," by Jose Rivera.
von Liebig Theatre: Megan Monahan, a junior from Pottstown, Pa., is directing monologues from "Sonnets for an Old Century," by Jose Rivera.
9 p.m.
Movement Studio: Danielle Rohar, a junior from Greensburg, Pa., will direct Act II, Scene 4, from "Baby with the Bathwater," by Christopher Durang, a playwright known for absurdist comedies.
von Liebig Theatre: Adam Vachon, a senior from Gray, Maine, is directing Scene 8 from "True West," by Sam Shepard.
The casts for the various productions include: Alyssa Erb, a sophomore from Hollidaysburg, Pa.; Melissa Mellon, a freshman from Patton, Pa.; Josh Beckel, a senior from Hollidaysburg, Pa.; Aggie Kwon, a senior from Enola, Pa.; Rachel Gressick, a sophomore from Portage, Pa.; Adam Vachon, from Gray, Maine; Skye Hatton-Hopkins, a junior from Bellefonte, Pa.; Noah Denton, a junior from Hanover, N.H.; Rachel Domoff, a junior from New Milford, Conn.; Laura Weber, a senior from Lumberton, N.J.; Jordan Long, a sophomore from Johnstown, Pa.; Katie Dickey, assistant director of alumni relations; and Peter Mike-Mayer, a freshman from Glen Rock, N.J.
The technical crew for the productions include: Samantha Bates, a junior from Hershey, Pa.; Jesse Parsons, a senior from Roosevelt, N.J.; Adam Vachon, from Gray, Maine; Stefani Milstrey, a freshman from Ballston Spa, N.Y.; Lily Kruglak, a sophomore from McLean, Va.; Tina Leavesley, a junior from Charlottesville, Va.; and Alex Miller, a sophomore from Langhorne, Pa.
