Stacks of Wax: WKVR Holds Sale for Old Records
(Posted April 15, 2008)
HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- With the dawn of downloaded music and CDs, the vinyl record is becoming as rare as a Ford Edsel. Juniata College's student radio station, WKVR-FM, will be selling most of its archive of vinyl record albums and other recorded music from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 19, in front of WalMart at 6716 Town Center Blvd.
The sale includes vinyl albums, 45s and cassette tapes. Profits from the sale will support the radio station.
Prices for the music, regardless of format, will range from $1 to $5, based on quality and genre.
Albums by artists such as Billy Joel, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, John Lennon, Metallica, and the Beatles are included in the sale.
"We have everything from jazz, Christian to heavy metal," says Meg White, student general manager of WKVR and a senior from Glen Rock, N.J.
