Juniata men's tennis drops nail biter to Elizabethtown

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Juniata College men's tennis team took two of the three doubles matches, but Elizabethtown College rallied to win four of six in singles to steal a 5-4 win out from under the Eagles, Tuesday afternoon in Huntingdon, Pa. Juniata (6-10) opened the match with Jarrad Silver (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) and Arnab Chakrabarti (Alpharetta, Ga./Alpharetta) taking an 8-6 win in #1 doubles, while Jonathan Skoner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) and Aaron Rhodes (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon) posted an 8-0 victory at second doubles. Skoner and Rhodes went on to notch wins at #2 and #5 singles respectively, but they were the only Eagle players to record victories in singles competition. Chakrabarti took Elizabethtown's Bryan Metz to three sets before falling 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 at #4 singles, while Acer Van Wallendael (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) also fell in three sets at #6 singles, 4-6, 6-1, 6-0. Juniata will return to action on Thursday, April 17, when both the men's and women's teams will travel to Gettysburg, Pa., to face Gettysburg College.
