MADISON, N.J. -- Seven different players contributed to an offensive surge that lifted Juniata College men's soccer to an 8-0 shellacking of Mount Saint Vincent College, in Sunday's final game of the Drew University Classic in Madison, N.J.

Juniata (1-1) got on the scoreboard quickly against the Dolphins. Very quickly.

Stephen Alexander (Arlington, Va./Woodlawn) scored what proved to be the game winner in the first minute, when his shot beat Dolphin keeper Carlo Malerba just 54 seconds into the match. Noah Bowers (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) was credited with the assist.

Senior forward Bryan Hess (Hanover, Pa./South Western) scored the next two goals, his first coming in the fourth minute of the game. Hess expanded the Eagle lead to 3-0 in the 11th minute when he scored on a penalty kick. Matt Wren (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) put Juniata ahead 4-0 in the 15th minute on a give-and-go play from Caleb Davis (Salt Lake City, Utah/Highland), then finished with a shot from just inside the 18 yard box.

Newcomer David Grim (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) closed out the first half scoring with a goal in the 41st minute, tipping a loose ball past Malerba into the side of the net.

Evan LaTourette (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) and Andrew Steffen (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land) each scored in the 53rd minute to give Juniata a 7-0 advantage, and Bowers notched a goal in the 69th minute to go with his assist earlier in the contest.

Ted Sonneborn (Syracuse, N.Y./Manlius Pebble Hill) was never challenged over 90 minutes in the Juniata goal, as Mount Saint Vincent (0-2) failed to record a single shot on goal. The Eagles peppered the Dolphin goal with 37 shots, 18 of them on goal, with Malerba recording nine saves. One Mount Saint Vincent defender was also credited with a save.

The Eagles held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks, and were called offsides on four occasions.

Juniata will make its home debut this Saturday, Sept. 6, when it hosts Keystone College at 3:30 p.m. on Winton Hill Field in Huntingdon.
