Juniata women's soccer blanks Keystone 12-0

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Three players scored two goals apiece as Juniata College pounded Keystone College 12-0, in women's soccer action Saturday afternoon at Winton Hill Field in Huntingdon, Pa. Caitlin Bigelow (La Mesa, Calif./Acad. of Our Lady of Peace) scored the game's first goal in the eighth minute, and then added a second one in the 20th to help Juniata (2-0, 0-0 Landmark) take an early lead. Bigelow's goals were sandwiched around a single marker by Katie Young (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) in the 12th minute. Erin Eddinger (Barto, Pa./Boyertown) scored back-to-back goals, in the 24th and 38th minutes, to expand the Eagle lead to 5-0, before Maura Collins (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post West) capped the first half scoring with a goal in the 44th minute. Freshman Nikki Hankinson (New Baltimore, Pa./Berlin Brothersvalley) picked up her first collegiate goal, and first of two on the afternoon, with an unassisted tally in the 49th minute. Hankinson struck again in the 75th minute, not long after Shannon Pierce (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) picked up her second goal of the season with a goal in the 72nd minute. Collins assisted on both Pierce's goal and Hankinson's second goal. Sophomore Tatiana Hinaman (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore) got on the scoresheet for the first time in her career with an unassisted goal in the 78th minute to put Juniata in front 10-0. Freshman Aimee Radic (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon Area) struck in the 82nd minute to stretch the lead to 11-0; junior back Melissa Johnson (Colonia, N.J./John F. Kennedy) capped the scoring with first goal of her collegiate career with just 3:58 left on the clock. Juniata's backs denied Keystone a single shot on goal, allowing the Eagles to carry a 45-0 advantage in total shots. Juniata had a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks, and caught offsides on nine occasions. The Eagles will have a matter of hours to recover before their next game; Juniata will travel to Latrobe, Pa., on Sunday morning for a contest against St. Vincent College at 3:30 p.m. -30-
