(Posted September 8, 2008)
HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College women's soccer player Caitlin Bigelow (La Mesa, Calif./Academy of Our Lady of Peace) has been named the Landmark Conference's Offensive Player of the Week in women's soccer, for the week ending September 7, 2008.
Bigelow, a sophomore forward, scored three times last week while leading Juniata to a pair of victories. She scored the game-winning goal in Juniata's 2-0 win over St. Vincent College, a victory that improved the Eagles' record to 3-0-0. Earlier in the week Bigelow scored twice in a lopsided 12-0 win over Keystone College.
The three-goal effort for the week gives Bigelow five goals and 10 points through only three games this season. She now has 14 career goals and 25 career points for the Eagles, placing her fourth among Juniata's career leaders in both statistical categories.
Juniata has opened its 2008 campaign with three straight victories, the first time the program has started a season 3-0-0 since 2000. The Eagles will be going for their fourth-straight victory this Saturday, Sept. 13, when Juniata hosts Gettysburg College at 1:00 p.m. on Winton Hill Field in Huntingdon, Pa.
