ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The Juniata College women's volleyball team extended its winning streak to 6-0 with a 3-0 victory over 13th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, in Saturday morning's first game of the 2008 Teri Clemens Invitation at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.

Set scores were 25-19, 25-19, and 25-18.

Senior middle hitter Erin Albert (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) led the Eagles with 11 kills, while senior Cassie Dickmann (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) logged nine kills and senior Amber Thomas (Ephrata, Pa./Conestoga Valley) added eight kills to the Juniata cause.

"We had to play the early game this morning, after a long travel day and then playing late last night, and the kids responded very well to that. They had a lot of energy," said Juniata head coach Larry Bock. "After a physical and emotional match last night, they could have very easily come out a little flat this morning and they didn't."

Senior Beth Kozak (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) set the offense with 18 assists, while sophomore Steph Strauss (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) finished with 17 assists. Megan Sollenberger (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) dug up 17 balls for the Eagles, and Albert paced the squad at the net with three total blocks.

The win over Whitewater gives Juniata (6-0, 0-0 Landmark) a pair of wins in its first clash with ranked opponents this season. Juniata concludes play in the Teri Clemens Invitational this afternoon when it faces Bethel University (Minn.) at 2:30 p.m. Central at the WU Field House.

"We've shown good ball control during the first two matches in this tournament," said Bock. "Our first and second contacts have been very good and that will beat a lot of people."
