GRANTHAM, Pa. -- Both Juniata College cross country teams defeated Gettysburg College but fell to Messiah College, in a tri-meet held Saturday morning in Grantham, Pa.

Sam Williams (Roaring Spring, Pa./Central) finished fourth overall in a time of 28:31, pacing the men's team in a 27-28 win over Gettysburg and a 17-44 loss to the host squad from Messiah.

Ceth Parker (Sabillasville, Md./Catoctin) was ninth in a time of 29:14, while Kenny Goodfellow (Duncansville, Pa./Hollidaysburg) was 15th with a time of 29:59. Nik Klena (Franklin, Pa./Oil City) was 16th overall (30:07), Tripp Rudolph (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) was 22nd (30:29), Matt Wagner (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) was 27th overall (31:04), and Steve Schmitt (New Providence, Pa./Solanco) was 29th (31:20) to round out the scoring runners for the Eagles.

Laura Rupprecht (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) was the top Juniata finisher in the women's race, as the Eagles downed Gettysburg 15-44 and fell to Messiah 15-48.
Rupprecht was seventh overall with a time of 21:17, leading a Juniata contingent that placed five runners in the top 15. Jessica Koenig (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) was eighth in a time of 21:21, while Meghan Jones (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) was 10th with time of 21:42. Aubrey Cyphert (North East, Pa./Seneca) was 11th (21:45), followed by Danielle Brooks (Williamsburg, Pa./Williamsburg) in 14th place (22:04), Megan Peterson (Canton, Pa./Canton) in 22nd position (22:43), and Megan McQuillan (Severna Park, Md./Seton Keough) in 23rd place (22:48).

Juniata will be competing at the Division II Pre-National meet next Saturday at Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, Pa.
