ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Juniata College women's volleyball team won a pair of games on Friday night at Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, Pa., defeating Christopher Newport University (Va.), 3-0, followed by a 3-0 victory over the host Blue Jays.

Senior Amber Thomas (Ephrata, Pa./Conestoga Valley) led the Eagle attack with 11 kills, while Megan Sollenberger (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) paced Juniata defensively with 16 digs. Molly Sollenberger (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) recorded three service aces, while Cassie Dickmann (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) earned two points at the net on blocks.

Against Elizabethtown, Juniata won by scores of 25-12, 25-19, and 25-11.

Junior Michelle Morchesky (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) had a team-high 10 kills for Juniata, while Kristin Noetzel (Closter, N.J./Northern Valley Regional) had five kills along with three assists. Senior setter Beth Kozak (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) set the offense with 13 assists, while both Molly and Megan Sollenberger had 10 digs each. Erin Albert (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) recorded four blocks at the net.

"All in all, it was a pretty good evening for us," said Juniata head coach Larry Bock. "We played two completely different shifts of hitters in the two matches, and they represented themselves well."

"We were trying a bunch of new things, and that probably made things uncomfortable for the kids, but its better to be uncomfortable now than later on in the season. I thought the kids handled it well," said Bock.

Juniata (21-2, 6-0 Landmark) continues its two-day, four-game road trip with games on Saturday against Franklin & Marshall College and Haverford College. Both games will be played at Haverford, starting at 2:30 p.m.
