HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College gave up two goals in each half and was downed 4-0 by the United States Merchant Marine Academy, in Landmark Conference men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon in Huntingdon, Pa.

Kyle Luetjen scored what proved to be the game winner for Merchant Marine (11-7-0, 3-4-0 Landmark) exactly two minutes into the contest.

Chris Flanagan scored the first of his two goals for the Mariners in the 41st minute, off an assist by Casey Desiderio. Flanagan added an insurance goal in the 65th minute, and was credited with the assist on Luetjen's goal.
Brad Silveira notched a goal in the 60th minute, with Luetjen getting the assist.

Juniata keeper Ted Sonneborn (Syracuse, N.Y./Manlius Pebble Hill) made five saves while allowing all four goals in his 85 minutes in the Juniata goal. Sophomore Joe Kohler (Vienna, Va./James Madison) played the final five minutes, and made one save.

Preston Stokes was in the Merchant Marine goal for all 90 minutes, and stopped three Juniata attempts.

USMMA outshot Juniata 16-13, while the Eagles had eight corner kick opportunities to the Mariners' five.

Juniata (5-11-1, 0-5-1 Landmark) closes out the 2008 season next Saturday, Nov. 1, when it faces Goucher College at 3:00 p.m. in Towson, Md.
