STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- The Juniata College men's volleyball team opened EIVA Tait Division play on Wednesday with their toughest test of the season - a road match against defending NCAA national champion Penn State.

Juniata hit just .063 against the Nittany Lions, and dropped a 3-0 decision to Penn State at Recreation Hall in State College, Pa. Set scores were 30-14,30-12, and 30-27.

Zach Wanner (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield), Evan Halteman (Perkiomenville, Pa./Christopher Dock) and Dan Powers (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) each had six kills for the Eagles (1-2, 0-1 EIVA Tait), while Chris Vrooman (Baden, Pa./Ambridge Area) logged five kills.

Matt Werle (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) set 23 assists for the Juniata offense, while Anthony Damiano (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township) had six digs.

The Nittany Lions were paced by Joe Sunder with nine kills, and Max Lipsitz with four total blocks.

Juniata will travel to New York this weekend to face NYU on Saturday, Jan. 31, at 4:00 p.m.
