McDowell wins Landmark women's hoops Player of the Week honors

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College senior Claudia McDowell (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) was named the Landmark Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, for the week ending February 22, 2009.
McDowell scored a team-high 17 points with six assists, five rebounds, and four steals to lead the Eagles to a 65-58 win over Susquehanna University, securing the no. 3 seed for this week's Landmark Conference Tournament. She scored Juniata's final six points of the game to cap an 8-0 run to close out the contest, and had a pair of steals that led to baskets inside the final two minutes.
McDowell is currently second on the team in scoring with 11.7 points per game with 4.9 rebounds, and has a team leading 102 assists.
Juniata (15-10, 9-5 Landmark) will face no. 2 seed Moravian College in the Landmark Conference Women's Basketball Tournament semifinals, on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 7:00 p.m. in Bethlehem, Pa. This will be Juniata's second conference tournament appearance in as many seasons.
